Another big win for mobile eSports today, as Twitch and Super Evil Megacorp announced a three-year partnership to build up Vainglory’s eSports presence in North America and Europe. As part of the deal, Vainglory will have its championships broadcast on Twitch, and Twitch will provide an eSports infrastructure for Vainglory. Each company will be investing multi-millions of dollars to support tournaments and other eSports-related initiatives.
According to Twitch, Vainglory was the fastest growing mobile game on the streaming network with over 150 million minutes watched. The Vainglory eSports scene was a major contributor to that number, with over 1.5 million fans tuning in to watch the Winter Championships alone.
It remains to be seen what kind of impact this investment from both companies will affect the Vainglory eSports scene, but one thing is also certain: get ready for bigger tournaments, better competition, and more participants and fans for Vainglory!
You can catch Super Evil Megacorp COO Kristian Segerstrale and Twitch Director of Esports Operations Nick Allen talk more about their deal in this video interview from Yahoo! eSports.
