Final four set for Vainglory NA Spring Championship

All eyes are on mobile eSports in Hollywood this weekend with the Vainglory North America Spring Championship taken place.  Today’s competition would determine which 4 teams would qualify for the semi-finals on Sunday, and the matches did not disappoint with a number of notable upsets.

Team SoloMid, the Winter Season Champions and Champion-of-Champions (defeating EU champs Team Secret recently) came into the tournament as the #2 seed and heavy favorites to repeat as champions.  However, the Day 2 competition did not swing in their favor, as they dropped both series against 3-seed Hammer Kinetics and 7-seed Nemesis Hydra respectively.  Their match-up against Nemesis Hydra was an intense affair, with the last match delivering 40 kills(!).  In the end, Nemesis Hydra’s VONC was just too much for Team SoloMid to handle, as he single-handedly dished out 18 kills and 7 assists in the final match.  This will be Nemesis Hydra’s third straight appearance in the Vainglory NA semi-finals.

Hammer eSports also come out as big winners today, as both their teams Kinetic and Velocity were able to secure spots into the semi-finals.  Unfortunately, the teammates will be going head-to-head in the first semi-finals match-up!  With both teams being extremely familiar with each other through scrimmages and practices, it will be interesting to see which of the two will represent Hammer eSports in the finals.

Be sure to check out Vainglory’s eSports Twitter account for highlights from today’s action, and tune into the Vainglory Twitch channel tomorrow for the semi-finals and finals match-ups!
