Vainglory introduces “Evil Eight” competitive structure, secures sponsorship from Amazon

The Summer Season for Vainglory is off to a hot start (pun intended) with the introduction of the “Evil Eight” competitive structure.  Announced earlier this week, 8 top teams from Vainglory North America and EU region will be competing against each other every weekend this season, and accumulating points in bid to earn championship points and secure a spot at the Summer Live Championships in North America (September 2-5) and Europe (September 9-11).  As part of the Evil Eight challenger battles, there willl be community-run “Challenger” tier of competition, which will a different tier of competition than the official events with different rules and formats.  Details for the Challenger events will be revealed by Super Evil Megacorp (SEMC) at a later time.

Speaking of the championships, SEMC has secured sponsorship from Amazon for this Summer season leading to the championships in September.  As part of the sponsorship deal, Amazon will host the championships, as well as reward players who download Vainglory through the Amazon App Store with discounts and bonus Amazon coins throughout the season.  Not-so-coincidentally, Amazon also owns Twitch, which has of course already signed a multi-million dollar strategy partnership with SEMC earlier this year.

Starting this season, MoEsport will be looking to ramp up our coverage of the Vainglory eSports scene, so be sure to check back often for the latest news for exclusives on the Vainglory tournament scene!
