Clash Royale Card Popularity Snapshot #16

Hello! I usually record the Global Top 100 battle decks every other week, but this time I’m doing things a little bit differently. I have recorded the Top 50 winning battle decks used by players in the King’s Cup this past weekend. As contrasted with the regular snapshot, this list promotes cards and decks that perform well under Tournament Rules. This list may help answer questions regarding which cards you should request from clanmates, purchase with gold, and ultimately include in your deck.

Mega Minion has surged to the top of the popularity rankings as the most popular support troop by far. The flying menace has an insanely high effective DPS, one-shotting most small troops, and is beefy enough to soak a Fireball and keep on swinging. The Log keeps rolling over its competition (Arrows, Fireball) and has held steady as the most popular spell in top competitive decks. Lightning jolted to the top in this snapshot as a way for beatdown decks to neutralize high DPS defenses such as Inferno Tower, Musketeer, and Mega Minion. Tombstone is bringing spooky back–the distracting power of this card is unparalleled for its cost, which enables it to be used effectively on defense and in counterattacking. Archers are the surprise winner of this snapshot–the sprightly ladies can be split to pressure both lanes, survive damage from cheap spells, and are quite effective against flying enemies of all sizes. Zap has few popular targets to kill in one shot (just the faltering Skeleton Army), but is still in almost half of all decks thanks to its usefulness in deck cycle, retargetting, and stunning enemies.

The rise of Golem as the most popular win condition has been a long time coming with the nerf to Inferno Tower and the popularity of versatile 3-cost defensive cards that the Golem player can use to shut down pressure on the opposite lane. Not far behind, the Ice Golem puts a ton of hitpoints on the board for a very low cost, giving your heavy hitters the time necessary to shut down enemy troops. Baby Dragon has also made a surprise comeback as a slow, splashy addition to Golem decks. Ice Spirit has suffered from the popularity of big bodies and the recent nerf to its freeze duration, but still feels decently powerful. Inferno Tower should be more popular than ever with so many Golem and Lava Hound decks, but a recent hitpoint nerf and weakness to the popular Lightning has kept it in low usage. Miner has dipped in popularity with fewer buildings to kill and without many Princess targets in the arena, either. The glass cannons Musketeer and Mini P.E.K.K.A have continued to founder amongst a competitive field of high-DPS alternatives.

Suggested decklists:

Golem Beatdown (20/50 appearances of this archetype): Golem, Tombstone, Mega Minion, Lightning, The Log, Archers, Baby Dragon, Zap
