Clash Royale Card Popularity Snapshot #19

Hello! I recorded the Global Top 100 battle decks used in the previous season and am posting the results here. This list may help answer questions regarding which cards you should request from clanmates, purchase with gold, and ultimately include in your deck.

Card Review

Zap zips to the top once again, knocking The Log down several notches to claim the top spot on the snapshot! Mega Minion also held on this season; no spells trade into it favorably so it continues to soar high above every other troop. Fireball nearly doubles in popularity–it complements Zap well and has seen very high use rates in beatdown decks. Ice Golem is the final card found in over half of all top decks–the cheap tank can easily turn some cleanup troops into a threatening counterattack.

Archers were shot down this season, due primarily to the popularity of Fireball and a new ground threat… Elite Barbarians one-shot the pink-haired ladies, and with a MASSIVE buff in hitpoints and DPS they have become a new favorite in counterattacks. Perhaps their popularity bolstered the ranks of Minions, which survive Zap but are an awkward target for Fireball since they are rarely played near a tower.

Furnace has done well in heavy decks that need a constant stream of damage to counter their faster opponents, all while earning chip damage on the tower for an elixir cost just (1) higher than the recently-nerfed Tombstone. The Skeleton Army is finding a defensive role once filled by the rarely used Minion Horde–it deals massive damage on defense before baiting out an opponent’s Zap. Ice Spirit continues to see some use, but struggles to achieve the versatility offered by Zap.

Giant remains the tank of choice for beatdown decks, while Hog Rider earned a higher spot thanks to the relative unpopularity of defensive buildings. Musketeer made a comeback in a metagame lacking in Lightning, and she barely edged out Bowler. The Freeze spell has performed well in decks that get spell-resistant troops directly onto their opponent’s tower. Popular siege and control win conditions Graveyard, Miner, and Royal Giant dropped precipitously.

Recent buffs to Tornado, Inferno Dragon, Balloon, Wizard, Giant Skeleton, Lumberjack, Bomber, Mortar, and Mirror have not yet brought them favor at the top of the ladder.
