Hello! I recorded the Global Top 100 battle decks used in the previous season and am posting the results here. This list may help answer questions regarding which cards you should request from clanmates, purchase with gold, and ultimately include in your deck.
The Log rolled back to the top of the metagame! Despite its recent nerf, The Log is in high demand from players who need a guaranteed hard-counter to Goblin Barrel. The Minions jettisoned to the top as the most-used troop–they’re in nearly half of all top decks! Zap suffered greatly from its recent damage nerf, but remains a top 3 card thanks to its great versatility and cheap cost. Skeleton Army has made a huge comeback because of the recent nerfs to cheap spells. Partnered with other ‘spell bait’ cards, the Army works as a wonderful defensive swarm that punishes defenders lacking splash damage.
Mega Minion now deals less damage, but its lack of hard-counters and spell resistance keeps it in the top 5. Giant marched to the top of this ranking; he towers above Golem, which also made solid gains. Both tanks are often paired with Lightning, the card that improved second-most since last season, and can be seen in the top ladder deck. Lightning did far better than Fireball this season and remains a must-have spell to neutralize defensive Inferno Towers setup to defend against the rise of big-hitpoint tanks. Prince was an interesting addition to beatdown decks in search of an anti-tank, counter-pushing troop.
Hog Rider players constructed a hybrid deck with the iconic striker, incorporating elements of spell bait to create a very successful deck. Furnace surged in popularity above Tombstone–both buildings are great distractions, but the Fire Spirits work better against plentiful swarm troops. Musketeer and Bowler both dropped in usage; they may be outclassed by the newly introduced (and still under-levelled) Executioner. His success could be a reason for the uptick in Mini P.E.K.K.A usage and drop in Archers. The Ballooon hovered around the same spot in popularity, but is no longer seen with Freeze, which faded from the scene.
Ice Golem was hit hardest by the nerf to its frost nova, falling from number one to the top 10 in ranking. Recent spell nerfs saw a welcome return to Princess and Arrows as alternative sources of splash damage. Elite Barbarians and Graveyard took a nosedive with the concomitant rise in spell bait decks. Ice Spirit popularity was also chipped away, following its recent damage nerf. Electro Wizard and Wizard made little and no gains, respectively, despite minor buffs. Of all things, Rage actually saw some use as a ‘gotcha’ card in certain Skarmy/Balloon deck, listed below.
